Mega Man for Smash Bros.

Mission Complete!

Wildcard Wednesday #5: The End is Nigh

Capcom has cancelled Mega Man Legends 3. The fans have responded. There is the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Mega Man Legends project which is currently pushing to get as many people to sign up as Servbots as possible. I strongly urge anyone who has any interest in supporting Legends 3 and Mega Man to go out there and do whatever they are willing to help.

Protodude’s Rockman Corner and The Mega Man Network are, in my eyes, the best English language Mega Man sites out there for reporting the latest and most important news on the situation. I mention them right now because as I was pondering this update, I was trying to think of something, anything additional I could help emphasize about the situation that these sites had not already covered. All I have come up with though, is a date.

On the original Rockman DASH 3 cancellation notice, there is a mention near the end of August 19th. As far as I have been able to tell, it is the date at which the Japanese Devroom will be completely shut down. When the notice was first sent out earlier this month, commenting on the Japanese Devroom was immediately disabled. I feel this date is important to consider, as it marks it a for sure point in time where Capcom will decide to either finish their cancellation plans, or perhaps do something else.

On the US cancellation Q&A,  there is no mention of the date, which might be why so many people neglect to mention it. Furthermore, the US Devroom cancellation was dealt with differently, allowing users to still join and post in the Devroom forums. The Q&A mentions this, explaining that the “Dev Room will remain open in a limited capacity, so you can PM those people now and in the future. “ The act of leaving open the Devroom has offered hope to some people, but the rest of the Q&A makes it quite clear the Capcom has no plans to continue Mega Man Legends 3 or use the ideas from the Devroom anytime in the future. Which, makes the decision for leaving it open and allowing for people to still get Servbot numbers all the more curious.

There is no certainty that these campaigns will change or not change Capcom’s decision. Come August 19th, we will see what happens.

    Time to cross our fingers..?

I really would love it if they reconfirmed the game, but I don’t have much hope for it. But I guess helping out won’t hurt much, right?

  3. Is there any way for us to tell how many Servbots are currently registered? I’m #8408, so there are at least that many so far! ;)

    • Haha, sadly there is no official counter on the site or anything like that. The only way we can know is from messages like yours, which say what Servbot number you are (I’m pretty sure it’s a little past 11,000 right now).
