Mega Man for Smash Bros.

Mission Complete!

Wildcard Wednesday #9: Debut Trailer

For anyone who was actively mashing the refresh button back in the Super Smash Bros. Dojo days, you probably agree that there was no greater feeling of relief (or disappointment) than when the page finally updated in the middle of the night. One of the better, and more unexpected surprises though, was the appearance of Sonic the Hedgehog. Rather than just leave fans with a cruel tease, like a logo or a ring noise, Nintendo went all out with having Sonic run into the picture, show off his moves, and all the while playing “Live and Learn”.

The only sour feeling about Sonic’s big announcement was it meant a certain other blue hero’s appearance was about 10 times less likely. While Mega Man did not make the cut, I really hope we can look forward to a similarly awesome debut. Would he teleport on to the scene? Who would he fight? And of course, what music would they use?

Sonic deserved to be in Brawl after all the requests he got as a playable character. I would be very happy with his return in SSB4.

Now that Sonic is playable, it’s time for the Blue Bomber to make his debut. With his history with Nintendo, being highly requested for playable status, and important to both Capcom and Nintendo, he deserves to be in.

  2. Haha yea, for sure! As much as I wanted Mega Man, there’s no question Sonic is just as big of a gaming icon, if not bigger. It would be the best scenario to have Mario, Sonic, Snake, and Mega Man all in one title: Nintendo, Sega, Konami, and Capcom super collab!

Sonic definitely deserved to be in, yes. But to be completely honest, I actually wanted Mega Man in more than Sonic.

I was still freaking out all over the place when Sonic was announced, though.
