Mega Man for Smash Bros.

Mission Complete!

Sakurai Says Connectivity is the Key

“As you noted, there is a certain dead end we come to if we just expand the volume of the game. I intend to change direction a little as we go. The key to that’s going to be its dual support for 3DS/Wii U. I’m really just getting started on this so it’s going to take time, but I’ll come up with something that uses that link as the game’s central axis, so I hope you’re looking forward to it.” Masahiro Sakurai

This is some very interesting first news. Some were left wondering when the game was announced for both systems whether or not it would just be a port job, or two radically different games. Linking could have all kinds of possibilities, like training characters on 3DS and sending them up to the Wii U, or even having it so you can fight one another across systems!

I have already seen a few disappointed at the fact this will detract from other features, and how the “volume” content can be taken to mean the game won’t be that much bigger or better than Brawl. It sounds like good news to me though, as new kinds of features are more welcome than worrying about keeping all the old ones.

  1. Jawbreaker

I don’t care about that! I just want MEGAMAN!!

I’m teasing of course. The next smash needs something new, and different about it. It’s not a good thing to keep making the game the exact same and just upping the graphics and adding new characters. It needs something fresh.

  2. aaaaahhh a whole bunch of updates out of nowhere and a site revamp! Gotta take a look around!

    • Haha, sorry for the burst of updates. The best is yet to come though; after adding some COOL NEW FEATURES, we’ll have a formal announcement of what’s up with this site now!
