Mega Man for Smash Bros.

Mission Complete!

Namco’s Involvement in Smash Bros. 4

In a surprise twist of events, it has recently been revealed Namco Bandai Studios is involved in the development of the new Smash Bros. According to Joystiq, Sakurai commented that Namco Bandai had been working on a prototype ever since the game’s announcement, and that it meets with his approval. It’s also pointed out that this is not the first time the Smash Bros. series has looked for help outside of Nintendo, as Game Arts was heavily involved in the development of Smash Bros. Brawl. Changes are in store for how Smash Bros. will play, but no specifics have been touched on yet.

What has been brought up is the possibility of Namco characters showing up in Smash Bros. The Escapist shared a response from Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada about the possibility of Tekken characters in Smash Bros., where he questioned if that’s something that Smash Bros. would really want. I think more people would excited for Pac-Man, personally!

More and more names are being revealed of people who are on the Smash Bros. project. If only some representatives from Capcom would get in on the action!

I doubt that’s going to lead to us getting a Namco Bandai character. We have to remember that they are moderate and they are leaving this up to Sakurai to decide whenever or not to get Namco Bandai characters. As of right now, the only possible rep from that company is Pac-Man and I don’t see him getting anywhere in Smash, barring huge fan demand (a la Mega Man).
